One Week Until Buster Blogathon 8!

Only seven days to go, everyone, until the great annual Busterthon returns for the 8th year in a row!!

I’m excited to see all your posts, everyone! (And I’m, ahem, still working on my own…!) The official roster is below–and if you’re a Keaton-loving blogger who’s just hearing about all this, you’re still welcome to join! The more the merrier, I say.

Update: As always, I hold a drawing every year for all you fine blogathon participants as a little “thank you” for contributing your time and effort. This year the prize will be a copy of James Curtis’s seminal new biography Buster Keaton: A Filmmaker’s Life. This (huge!) new book was just released and is already getting rave reviews. (And yes, I’ll be reviewing it soon myself!)

  1. Oh, I must punish myself; I had forgotten about this event. Now I have a problem: My blog is written in Spanish, although it includes a translator to any language and I usually write in a fairly simple way (at least I think so). Can I participate with a publication in Spanish or is it essential that it is written in English?

  2. I’m super excited for that biography. Finally, we get a respectful, in-depth one from the looks of it. (Btw, do you have any thoughts on that new biopic they announced that’s apparently using Meade’s book as a source?)

Oh and I cannot wait for your article. I’ve been wanting to revisit the MGM features for a while– for obvious reasons, The Cameraman is about the only one I go back to often.

    • Working on it! 🙂 I don’t mind some of the MGMs, personally, except for–well, I’ll save that for the post.

Let’s just say I was NOT enthralled by the biopic news. Of all the freaking books to pick…!!

      • Yeah, I have about no hope for the biopic– especially since they seem to be focusing on the negative (alcoholism, bad marriages, shame). It might not be as bad as The Buster Keaton Story, but I expect more “sad clown” nonsense.

      • Ugh. I know. But there’s a clip going around from the making of some short that shows how absolutely joyful the latter-day Buster seemed when working. I think he looked for reasons to be happy.

  3. Nice timing on the blogathon! Next Wednesday, March 15, Cinema Arts Centre is live streaming three Buster Keaton shorts with accompanying music by Ben Model. James Curtis will be part of the program and as always there will be a live chat following the film where viewers can participate in a Q&A. Free or pay what you want.

    P.S. Love your blog Lea!
